Welcome to C.A.R.E

Who We Are
Capital Area Rescue Effort, Inc. (C.A.R.E) was founded in 2011 in the Richmond, Virginia area.

We rescue dogs that have been abandoned, orphaned, or have experienced abuse or neglect and work hard to find them safe and loving permanent homes.
C.A.R.E takes its responsibility for each dog’s future very seriously. Please carefully consider our adoption policies and procedures and read our detailed policies if you are interested in adopting one of our dogs.
What We Do
C.A.R.E rescues orphaned or abandoned dogs, often from shelters with high euthanasia rates, and selectively places them in their forever homes. We begin to care for our dogs immediately upon their arrival, including vet examinations, vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and heartworm and other parasite testing and preventative. When necessary, we also arrange for treatment of more serious medical issues, which can be very costly.
C.A.R.E participates in events throughout the year to showcase our rescue and our dogs and holds private meet-and-greets with interested and qualifying potential adopters. Please visit our calendar for upcoming events, and review our adoption policies if you are interested in applying to adopt one of our dogs.
